Cyber Resilience Critical : Sukumar Sah

In the digital age, where technology underpins every facet of modern life, cyber resilience has emerged as a critical pillar for building ‘Viksit Bharat’. Cyber resilience refers to the ability of an organisation, society, or nation to prepare for, respond to, and recover from cyberattacks while ensuring continuity and growth. For India, which is rapidly transforming into a digital powerhouse, cyber resilience is no longer optional – it is imperative.

India’s digital transformation, powered by initiatives like Digital India, UPI, and Aadhaar, has brought about a sea change in governance, financial inclusion, and services for citizens. However, this digital leap also brings increased vulnerabilities to cyber threats. In 2023 alone, India witnessed a surge in ransomware attacks, phishing scams, and data breaches, underscoring the urgent need for robust cybersecurity measures.

Building cyber resilience in India involves a multi-pronged approach.

First, strengthening critical infrastructure — power grids, financial systems, and health networks —against cyber threats is essential.

Second, there is a need to foster a culture of cyber hygiene through public awareness campaigns that can help individuals and businesses adopt safer practices.

Third, investing in advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and blockchain can enhance threat detection and response.

Finally, collaboration between Government, private sector, and global stakeholders can ensure a unified front against cybercrime.

By embracing cyber resilience, India can safeguard its digital ecosystem, protect its citizens, and foster trust in its digital economy. A resilient cyber framework will not only secure the nation’s technological advancements but also help India to achieve the vision of becoming a developed and self-reliant global leader.
