The human face of I-T

NEW DELHI: Numbers alone cannot capture Pratap Singh’s legacy. What distinguishes him is his relentless effort to make the Income Tax Department more humane, approachable, and responsive.

In Gurugram and Faridabad, Singh personally supervised grievance redressal and launched outreach programmes that built unprecedented levels of trust between taxpayers and the department. He pioneered Rozgar Melas, health camps, and blooddonation drives, extending the department’s role beyond revenue collection into community service.

The Harith Aayakar initiative, under which 10,000 saplings were planted and micro-forests developed, demonstrated his commitment to sustainable governance. By promoting renewable energy adoption in Government offices, Singh proved that tax administration can also be an agent of environmental responsibility.

As President of the Golf Federation of India and ARSP Foundation, Singh has advanced youth empowerment, sportsmanship, and South Asian cooperation – extending his influence far beyond bureaucratic boundaries. By combining professionalism with empathy, Singh has humanised a department often viewed with fear or suspicion. His example shows that governance is not just about enforcing rules but about creating bonds of trust that strengthen the very fabric of democracy.
