Central Bank : Bulletin Reports a Resilient Quarter
The Reserve Bank released the August 2026 issue of its monthly Bulletin on 25 August 2026 (Press Release 2026-2027/966). Its State of the Economy article records buoyant domestic demand, rising manufacturing and services activity, easier liquidity supporting credit growth and investment, and a rebound in foreign capital inflows. The issue also carries the bi-monthly monetary policy statement of 3–5 August 2026.
Market Infrastructure : Exchanges Get a Legal Clock
The Legal Metrology (Indian Standard Time) Rules, 2026, notified on 27 August, make Indian Standard Time the common reference for commercial purposes and come into force 180 days after Gazette publication. Secure dissemination between the Regional Reference Standard Laboratory, Bengaluru and the National Stock Exchange in Chennai was verified with SEBI, NSE and BSNL before notification.
Audit : Project Imports Audit Reaches Parliament
The Comptroller and Auditor General’s Performance Audit Report No. 27 of 2026 on the Project Imports Scheme was presented to Parliament on 12 August 2026, carrying 36 observations, 11 recommendations, a revenue implication of ₹128.58 crore and procedural irregularities of ₹2,979.33 crore. Exports : Seafood Exports at ₹73,890 Crore
India exported seafood valued at about ₹73,890 crore during FY 2025-26, the Department of Fisheries said in its note of 30 August 2026 ahead of the Lakshadweep outreach programme. The Department puts the number of fishers supported by marine fisheries at about 50 lakh.

Rural Demand : ₹13,427 Crore Sanctioned for Bihar Housing
11.19 lakh pucca houses have been approved for Bihar with an allocation of ₹13,427 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin, the Union Minister for Rural Development said on 20 August 2026 — a construction pipeline with direct consequences for cement, steel and rural wage demand.
