NEW DELHI: Infosys has been awarded a £1.2 billion (approximately Rs 14,000 crore), 15-year contract by the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) of the United Kingdom (UK) to deliver Future NHS Workforce Solution.
As per the contract, Infosys would develop a cutting-edge, data-driven workforce management solution, that would replace the existing Electronic Staff Record (ESR) system, and facilitate payroll functions for 1.9 million NHS employees in England and Wales who are paid £55 billion annually, said a press release.
According to a communique, powered by advanced technologies, the new solution will deliver a modern, flexible, and integrated platform that supports the entire employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to payroll, career development, and retirement. With intuitive, AI-driven tools, it would also streamline workforce planning and enable data-driven decision-making, creating a seamless and user-friendly experience for the NHS staff, it said.
Michael Brodie, Chief Executive, NHSBSA, said, “The new workforce solution will go far beyond simply replacing ESR – it will be a strategic enabler for building a workforce that is fit for the future.’‘
Salil Parekh, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director, Infosys said, “The NHS is a cornerstone of life in the UK, providing vital services that touch the lives of millions every day. We will deliver a platform that not only drives efficiency today but empowers the NHS to elevate it’s invaluable work into the future.”
The NHSBSA is an arm’s-length body of the Department of Health and Social Care that provides a range of critical central services to NHS organisations, NHS contractors, patients and the public.
Infosys has been on mega-deal signing spree for the past few years. In 2023, it had signed $2.5 billion, eight-year partnership to build and scale the digital entertainment and connectivity platforms of Liberty Global, a multinational company headquartered in London, UK.
Same year the tech giant had signed a $1.5 billion agreement with British Petroleum for a 15-year term, leveraging AI platforms for digital transformation.
The latest NHS deal solidifies Infosys’s expertise in handling complex, long-term, and mission-critical digital transformation projects for very large public sector entities. The company has earlier won other mega-deals of comparable or greater value, but the NHS contract is particularly notable for its size, duration, and the public-sector healthcare domain it covers.
