Assam CM Meets Singapore President, Explores Partnership Opportunities

Sharing details of the meeting on X, Sarma wrote, “It was a great honour to meet the President of Singapore, H.E. @Tharman_S, today. Our discussions focused on ongoing collaborative projects, highlighting Assam’s role as a vital pillar in the India-Singapore Comprehensive Partnership. I also shared our fond memories of His Excellency’s visit to Assam in 2022.”

Expressing optimism about the partnership, Sarma added, “We deeply value Singapore’s involvement in #AdvantageAssam2 and are eager to strengthen ties in emerging sectors, including semiconductors, green energy, and advanced technology.”

During his two-day visit to Singapore, Sarma held meetings with leaders from the semiconductor industry, urging them to collaborate on the upcoming semiconductor manufacturing plant in Jagiroad, located in Assam’s Morigaon district.

In another post, he wrote, “Began my day in Singapore with a productive meeting with key leaders from the semiconductor sector. Semiconductors play a crucial role in India-Singapore cooperation, and I have invited them to partner with us in developing Assam’s upcoming #ElectronicCity in Jagiroad.”

The Chief Minister also emphasized Singapore’s expertise in urban planning and its relevance to Assam’s development. He reviewed ongoing projects by Surbana Jurong, a global urban, infrastructure, and management services firm, in collaboration with its executive team.

“Today, I reviewed Surbana Jurong’s projects in Assam with Mr. Low Cher Ek and his team,” Sarma said. “We aim to utilize Singapore’s expertise in town planning to build modern cities and industrial parks in Assam and enhance the #EaseofLiving for our citizens.”

Before his visit to Singapore, Sarma toured South Korea and Japan, holding meetings with investors and encouraging them to participate in the upcoming Advantage Assam 2.0 summit, which will be held in Guwahati on February 25 and 26.

Sarma expressed confidence that the summit would attract significant investments, further boosting the state’s economy. He also highlighted plans to generate more government jobs and promote entrepreneurship through this initiative.

The Advantage Assam 2.0 summit is set to be a major platform for presenting Assam as a preferred investment destination, strengthening partnerships, and driving the state’s growth across multiple sectors.
