New Delhi, April 29 — In a move aimed at bringing education closer to every corner of the country, the government has launched ‘Gyan Post’, a new postal service designed to make the delivery of educational, cultural, social, and religious books more affordable and accessible.

Starting May 1, this service will be available at all departmental post offices across India. Announcing the launch, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that ‘Gyan Post’ is a step towards making sure that essential learning materials — from textbooks and exam guides to cultural literature — can reach even the most remote villages and towns.

“This is about making education truly inclusive,” Scindia said. “Under the new education policy, we want to ensure that every individual, no matter where they live, has access to the learning tools they need.”

Affordable Delivery for Knowledge Sharing

The service is designed specifically for non-commercial, educational content, offering trackable delivery through surface transport to keep costs low. The pricing reflects this focus:
• Rs 20 for packets up to 300 grams
• Rs 100 for packets up to 5 kilograms (plus applicable taxes)

To qualify, each item must include the printer’s or publisher’s name and meet the eligibility criteria. Materials intended for business use or containing advertising won’t be accepted.

A Commitment to Learning for All

The Ministry of Communications says ‘Gyan Post’ is part of India Post’s long-standing commitment to public service and education. With its unmatched reach, India Post is using its network to connect learners with the resources they need — one book at a time.

In a world where access can define opportunity, ‘Gyan Post’ is a reminder that even a simple book, delivered affordably, can change lives.
