NEW DELHI: MM Auto, a premierhelical coil spring manufacturing company based in IMT Manesar, celebrated its 35th Foundation Day on April 13. On the occasion, the first shipment of cold coiling spring for the Indian Railways was jointly flagged off by Chairman & Managing Director Manoj Singhal and Joint MD Ruby Jain with lot of fanfare.
CEO Vinod Kumar Talwar explained that MM Auto has created history by successfully developing cold coiling spring for the Indian Railways. This spring, he said, will replace the currently-used hot coiling spring, which breaks leading to the wagon becoming non-operational. That reduces the load-carrying capacity of the Railways, resulting in huge revenue loss.
The spring developed in cold coiling by MM Auto was aggressively tested by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) of the Railways before getting approval for mass manufacturing.
‘MM Auto’s order book has become full in a short time and the company has started looking at big expansion. Encouraged by the success of the first spring in cold coiling, it has initiated steps to develop higher wire size springs in cold coiling, which will replace hot coiled springs presently in use. MM Auto’s entry into Railways business will make big increase in the topline of the company.
