Hydropower development: The region accounts for a substantial share of India’s hydropower potential. Development activities have gained momentum in recent years. Several projects have been initiated across the region.
The 2,000-MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project is located on the Assam–Arunachal Pradesh border. Small hydropower projects are also expanding in the region due to its vast untapped potential.
