NEW DELHI: Lead with the pace of building. India added a record of roughly 29 GW of solar and wind capacity in the first half of 2026, lifting total renewable capacity to about 288.58 GW as of June — of which solar alone accounts for around 162 GW. It is the fastest clean-energy expansion the country has recorded in a single half-year, driven by a surge in solar installations and a rooftop boom under the PM Surya Ghar scheme.
